“Now they’re burning my buses”: Transport operator Jacimovic releases footage

“It’s come to the point where they’re burning my buses! You thugs better brace yourselves now! SNS PROGRESSIVES!” Jacimovic wrote alongside a video of the blaze. SNS is the Serbian acronym for the ruling Serbian Progressive Party.

Speaking to the daily Danas, Jacimovic said he learned of the incident at 3:30 am on Thursday when he received a phone call from a truck driver from Kikinda. The driver, who was passing by Jacimovic’s house, spotted the bus in flames and called to alert him.

“When I went outside, it was quite a sight, the bus was in flames. I called the firefighters, and they arrived to put out the fire, but it was too late, it was already completely gutted,” Jacimovic said.

He added that the police arrived on the scene and that he was waiting for a forensic team from Novi Sad to conduct an investigation. He maintains that the fire was deliberately set.

“I know exactly who set the bus on fire, but I will not name names publicly. I told the police as much, but this is just another crime committed by the SNS mafia,” he said.

Jacimovic noted that the destroyed bus was the vehicle he had used to transport students.

“They haven’t intimidated me. I have placed my life in the hands of those children, and nothing will stop me from helping them. The only thing they can do is kill me, and they can only kill me once. There is no stopping - we move forward to victory,” Jacimovic said.

Alongside several clips of CCTV footage, he issued a message saying that anyone with information regarding the incident could contact him anonymously. He added that he is prepared to offer a cash reward for any such information.
