NUNS: ANN staff have right to answers and guarantees of editorial independence

NUNS said that journalists and other media staff must be informed promptly and fully about changes that affect the future of their newsrooms and their jobs, professional rights and the editorial independence of their newsrooms guaranteed.

It said that the unannounced registration of Alpac Capital's CEO Pedro Vargas David in place of management at all ANN media outlets in Serbia gave rise to more concern and and uncertainty among journalists and media staff, particularly amid reports that changes to editorial positions could follow.

"This is not only a matter of labor rights. N1, Nova, Danas, Radar and other ANN media play an extremely important role in preserving professional and critical journalism in Serbia and the region. Their editorial independence is therefore a matter of public interest," NUNS said.
