Belgrade and Pristina must resolve problems within the European Union (EU)-facilitated Dialogue, said US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien.

He added that failure to implement past agreements is a lost opportunity for both Belgrade and Pristina.

Commenting on the report by EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell, O’Brien said that both sides must recommit to tackling problems and pursuing opportunities within the EU-facilitated Dialogue, the Serbian state TV (RTS) reported.

“Josep Borrell’s meetings today with (Serbian President) Aleksandar Vucic and (Kosovo Prime Minister) Albin Kurti highlight how the parties must recommit to tackling problems and pursuing opportunities within the EU-facilitated Dialogue. Non-implementation of past agreements is indeed a lost opportunity for both parties,” O’Brien said in a post on the X social media platform.

Serbian President Vucic met Wednesday in Brussels with Borrell and EU Special representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak and described the talks as very successful.

“We talked about everything, implementation of various agreements, everything we've had in the dialogue, everything we discussed, the situation in Kosovo and Metohija. We talked about everything,” said Vucic.

Regarding the dialogue, Vucic said that chief negotiators of Belgrade and Pristina will meet on Tuesday or Wednesday, stressing that Kurti either did not want to or did not dare to meet with him on Wednesday in Brussels.

Following the meetings on Wednesday, Borrell said Serbia was ready for a trilateral meeting, that Kosovo was not and that Kurti presented three conditions for it be held.
