Open Balkan summit invites others to join initiative
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday that the Open Balkan summit participants decided to invite Sarajevo, Podgorica and Pristina to join them.
Vucic, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and North Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev are meeting in Albania to sign six agreements, including one on a regional labor market.
Vucic said that the efforts of Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia to bring benefits to their populations will help with the inclusion of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro and Kosovo in the initiative. “This initiative will change the face of the Balkans,” Vucic said after the summit, adding that next meeting of the three leaders will be in Belgrade in May or June.
Vucic said that Rama is being accused of supporting what is seen as an initiative for Greater Serbia while he is being attacked for supporting the initiative perceived to be in favor of a Greater Albania. “This is not about Greater Serbia or Greater Albania and I don’t know what kind of North Macedonia… This is about not losing the debate between the present and the past and not losing our future,” he said.
Vucic, Rama and Zaev signed agreements on the agricultural industry in Tirana.
