MPs from six opposition caucuses filed a motion with the Constitutional Court to assess the constitutionality of the Serbian Government’s November 2024 decision to remove the General Staff building’s cultural property status, the Green-Left Front said Friday.

It explained that the motion, supported by 49 opposition lawmakers, argues that the decision violates both the Cultural Heritage Law and the Constitution, which mandates state authorities to protect cultural heritage.

The Green-Left Front said the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) is “carrying out a criminal transformation of the General Staff building for private interests.”
