In a post on the X social media platform, Green-Left front explained that this symbolic act is part of their Your Hands are Bloody campaign, which aims to hold representatives of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) accountable for the corruption that is killing people.

The City Secretariat for Information issued a statement regarding the incident, describing the start of the session as marked by acts of barbarism and the destruction of city property.

Belgrade City Assembly Speaker Nikola Nikodijevic said he was disappointed but not surprised by the opposition representatives spilling red paint before the start of the Wednesday session.

The Belgrade City Assembly came into session on Wednesday to discuss 26 items on the agenda, most of which are related to urban planning proposals.
