The SSP identified the leader of the group as Luka Petrovic, a ranking official of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) who the opposition claims is the de facto head of the Belgrade city government along with his official post of Investment Secretary. Petrovic appeared on TV Pink early on Friday morning to deny any blame for the confrontation and accuse Djilas of assaulting the young men with him.
The media received invitations to Djilas’ news conference at 1:00 pm followed by an invitation to a news conference by Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic at 9:00 am.
The opposition leader and his companion ended up in the city emergency center to be treated for bruises and cuts.
