Leader of the opposition Serbia Center movement Zdravko Ponos said the Serbian Government will not send a request to KFOR for the return of Serbian military and police in Kosovo.

“Vucic himself said that this request will not bear fruit so the question is why is he doing that? He is doing it for the sake of internal politics, so it’s written somewhere that this had been attempted,” Ponos told the daily Nova.

He said “this serves no purpose but to feed the unrealistic expectations of people standing at the barricades and freezing, to manipulate with and humiliate them.”

“Let’s say it is allowed, what would we do with that? Resolution 1244 says it is possible to deploy several hundred people, and within missions for the protection of cultural heritage, guarding of the border, demining…There would be no patrolling of the streets of Pristina and Mitrovica,” said Ponos.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced a few days ago that the Government will have a meeting on Thursday to decide on sending a request to KFOR for the return of Serbian military and police in Kosovo. He also said that he knows the request will be denied.
