Democratic Party MP Srdjan Milivojevic told N1 that Monday’s protest in Belgrade will demand the resignation of Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic and his entire cabinet following the Novi Sad train station tragedy that claimed 14 lives when a concrete canopy collapsed.

The parliamentary opposition has scheduled the protest for 5 pm outside the Serbian Government building.

“There is no need for us to march. We are dealing with a major tragedy, and people have marched enough. We know exactly where those responsible are - in the Government and the president’s office,” Milivojevic told N1.

He pointed to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic as the architect of the current administration.

“We are demanding Vucevic’s resignation along with his entire cabinet because corruption literally kills people, and we are witnessing that firsthand,” said Milivojevic.

The protest will proceed from the Government building to the presidential office via “the shortest possible route,” where protesters plan to deliver an opposition petition demanding Prime Minister Vucevic's resignation, explained Milivojevic.

When asked about the possibility of meeting with President Vucic, Milivojevic replied: “I won’t beg Vucic to receive any member of parliament. It is his choice whether to show basic courtesy. If he refuses, we will simply attach the petition to the door.”
