Opposition parties call for resistance to capitulation

The leaders of the Dveri Movement, New Democratic Party of Serbia (Novi DSS) and Oathkeepers told a news conference in Parliament that the EU proposal to resolve the Kosovo issue is a call for Serbia to capitulate and give up part of its territory.

Dveri leader Bosko Obradovic said that the signing of the Franco-German plan will lead Serbia into unrest and instability. “We can thank EU envoy Miroslav Lajcak for telling us what to expect in Brussels on Monday. We said from the start that (Serbian President) Aleksandar Vucic agree to sign that agreement is just looking for a media explanation for his readiness to give up Kosovo,” he said, adding that he expects the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) to speak up about the plan. “We will call for resistance to capitulation,” he said.

Novi DSS leader Milos Jovanovic said that Serbia is facing “potentially the greatest humiliation in its national history”. “The agreement that will be on the table on Monday is an agreement to recognize the secession of our southern province. It’s not important if the recognition is implicit or explicit, the consequence is an independent Kosovo, Greater Albania, huge geo-political instability for our people,” he said and added that the proposal runs counter to the Serbian constitution.

Oathkeepers leader Milica Djurdjevic Stamenkovski said that these opposition parties will use all legitimate and legal means to combat what she called “the betrayal of Serbian national interests”. “The fate and future of Serbia is being decided on Monday: whether we are a mass or a nation, a state or a colony. We are determined to defend the will of the half a million people who voted for us and the mood of the majority who do not agree to the secession of Kosovo. We are prepared to fight to the end,” she said.
