The opposition Serbia Against Violence (SPN) coalition refused to take part in Wednesday’s consultations prior to the first session of the new Belgrade City Assembly, SPN officials told N1.

Vladimir Obradovic (the coalition’s candidate for mayor) and Dobrica Veselinovic said they were invited to the consultations but refused to go. They said they received the invitation from an Assembly clerk not the outgoing speaker as has been customary to date.

Veselinovic and Obradovic said they had nothing to discuss in terms of forming the city assembly based on the December 17 elections whose results the opposition has been disputing.

The SPN will hold a meeting of its Belgrade City Assembly councilors later on Wednesday, Obradovic said adding that they are coordinating with the NADA coalition.
