The Serbia Against Violence (SPN) coalition submitted its proposals on election conditions in Parliament on Friday, meeting the deadline set by Speaker Ana Brnabic a day earlier.

Brnabic called the opposition to submit their proposals on implementing the ODIHR recommendations made in a final observer report following the mid-December elections. The opposition wants a review of the voter registry, full access to the state TV (RTS) and the same date for all local elections. The ruling coalition accepted the first two demands but decided to have the vote for the Belgrade City Assembly on June 2 and other local elections on other dates.

An N1 reporter said Friday’s proposals include ways to prevent vote buying, campaigning by public officials and equal access to the media.

Brnabic called three meetings of the Parliament Collegium to date to discuss the implementation of ODIHR recommendations and improving election conditions. Opposition MPs walked out of Thursday’s third meeting which was attended by the US, EU and OSCE ambassadors.
