Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani on Thursday accused Belgrade of threatening violence against Kosovo over the re-registration of vehicles.

“Serbia is the country threatening to use illegal measures because Kosovo is implementing the law. Serbia is threatening violence because Kosovo implements the law,” she said after a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. “We will work together to prevent Russian scenarios in our region,” she added.

Osmani said that Pristina expects the support of its European allies and the US in “the fight against gangs and for rule of law in the north of Kosovo”.

Earlier on Thursday, Serb List leader Goran Rakic said that the Serbs in the north would resist attempts to seize their vehicles which have Serbian-issued license plates, including putting up roadblocks.
