Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani accused the Serbian authorities of sending arms to Kosovo and training members of what Pristina calls illegal structures in the northern majority-Serb municipalities.

Speaking in Tirana where she met with Albanian President Bajram Begaj and Prime Minister Edi Rama, Osmani said that official Belgrade was causing a deterioration of the situation in the Western Balkans, and called for stronger coordination in the region.

“The Kosovo-Serbia dialogue did not deteriorate because of the situation in the north. Serbia is the one escalating the situation in the region with constant attacks in the Kosovo region,” she said.

Osmani said that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was implementing Russian President Vladimit Putin’s plans. “By precisely implementing the plan that Putin launched against Ukraine in 2014, Vucic and Serbia want to destabilize the entire Western Balkans and are trying to attack the values and system of values the the European Union and NATO are based on,” she said.

“Serbia is constantly illegally bringing arms into Kosovo. Serbia is constantly training illegal structures in the Serbian Military so that they can create problems with the weapons brought illegally to the north. It is constantly terrorizing, intimidating and attacking Serbs living in the north. This is a challenge for the entire region. We can’t allow Vucic to implement Putin’s plan in the Western Balkans,” she told reporters in the capital of Albania.

The Kosovo President said that coordination of a common strategy and foreign policy activities with Albania was the main topic of her talks with Albanian officials.
