Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani said she is prepared to consider possible fresh local elections as French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz requested at an informal meeting in Chisinau.
She said that the Kosovo Serbs are not taking part in the new election process at present. Osmani said she told the meeting at the European Political Community summit in Chisinau that she is prepared to consider elections in line with Kosovo laws.
“That means that the Serbs – the 20 percent of them with the right to vote – can launch a petition to start the process for new elections. We are prepared to respect the law. It is a democratic process and we allow our citizens to decide whether they want new elections. We need them to take part to elect mayors,” she said.
Osmani claims that Vucic was asked not to interfere and not pressure people to refuse to take part.
