Outgoing Belgrade mayor refuses to answer, insults N1

Sapic has refused to answer questions from those two media outlets on at least two occasions over the past few weeks claiming displeasure with the way they reported on his activities. Prime Minister Ana Brnabic took his side and refused to answer questions at a Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) news conference.

Sapic was asked on Friday about allegations that voters were being relocated from the village of Mala Krsna outside the city of Smederevo to the Vozdovac municipality in Belgrade prior to the elections for the Belgrade City Assembly in June. Sapic responded with insults and accusations that N1 was waging an anti-Serbian policy. N1 feels that this puts its reporter in danger.

“You know that I don’t answer questions from you. You know the reason which you never report on your TV station since even when I do answer, you cut it out,” Sapic said. He added that he doesn’t answer questions from N1 not because he is afraid but because N1 are “liers, manipulators, forgers”.

“You misuse my words and, I have to admit, over the past few days I have been hard-hit to see that you are becoming an anti-Serbian TV, an anti-Serbia media outlet. …. N1 exists in other countries in the region but I have never seen N1 Croatia be anti-Croatian or anti-Bosniak in Bosnia or in Slovenia,” Sapic said. Part of his criticism of N1 was over what he called the defense of statements made at a meeting in Dubrovnik by Vojvodina Journalists’ Society (NDNV) chief Ana Lalic and Serbian human rights activist Aida Corovic which were deemed anti-Serbian by pro-regime media.
The outgoing mayor has endangered the safety of N1 journalists by accusing us of waging an anti-state policy.
