Outgoing Mayor says bus incidents may have been staged

Two buses burned and one double bus broke in two over the past two weeks prompting opposition politicians to criticize the way the city transport company was being managed. Sapic terminated a contract with a Turkish company that set up a transport payment system forcing the city government to pay penalties. The city transport company (GSP) has suffered losses and its vehicle pool is aging.

According to Sapic, the three bus incidents are “too much of a coincidence”. He told the pro-government B92 TV that an investigation is underway. “This campaign is very dirty,” he said and added that bomb threats have started again just prior to the elections.
