There were a little over a million overnight stays by domestic and foreign tourists in Serbia in December 2022, which is a 45 percent increase compared to December 2021 when there was a total of 695,153 overnight stays.

The number of overnight stays by foreign tourists in December last year (552,481) exceeded the number of overnight stays by domestic tourists (451,336), said the Serbian Government.

Residence tax for legal entities in 2022 was more than 901 million dinars (1 euro – 118 dinars), which is a 30 percent increase compared to 2021.

“The above data are proof of the state’s huge investment in the tourism economy through investments in road and other infrastructure and the construction of attractive accommodation facilities,” said the Serbian Government press release, adding that these are also the result of the reduction of the grey economy in tourism, through the introduction of the „eTourist“ system.

Some of the most popular tourist destinations in Serbia, which according to the latest data stand out for the highest number of overnight stays by tourists in December 2022, are Belgrade, Zlatibor, Novi Sad, Kopaonik, Subotica, Nis and Vrnjacka Banja.
