Thursday’s figure shows 140,000 refugees entered Romania since the start of the war and the number daily increases by ten percent.
According to N1 reporter Branislav Shovljanski who is on the Romanian-Ukrainian border, 90,000 of 140.00 Ukrainians have already left Romania, as it has served as a transit country.
To understand the scale of this humanitarian and refugee crisis, by comparison, more than a million people have left Ukraine in just seven days, while when the war in Syria began, a million people left the country within three months,
That indicates the number could grow in the coming period.
The good news for Ukrainian citizens moving from Romania to Hungary is that they do not need visas anymore as of Thursday morning.
About 2,000 Ukrainian refugees have sought asylum in Romania, and Romanian authorities would issue temporary work permits for a period of nine months to anyone planning to stay.
Sovljanski said that most refugees came to the two border crossings, but almost half of the refugees from Ukraine enter Romania from the direction of Moldova.
Most Ukrainians are reported to go to Poland and the Czech Republic.
