Parents who lost their children in the shooting at a Belgrade school are demanding explanations from the authorities, including the status of the boy who gunned down 8 students and a guard.
The parents of the murdered 7th grade children gave the authorities a week to reply to their demands made at a meeting on Tuesday, the head of the Parents’ Council at the Vladislav Ribnikar elementary school Igor Djordjevic told Nova S.
According to Djordjevic, the parents are demanding a full reconstruction of the shooting and information on the investigation. They want experts to tell them what’s going to happen to the 13 year old shooter because other children are afraid he will go free, an outside team of psychiatrists and psychologists for the survivors of the shooting not including school staff, a full reconstruction of the school and accountability for whoever released a list of names of students of the 7th grade class along with pictures of the children and their parents. The 7th grade parents want their children to be able to enter the school by an entrance not used by the shooter and have classes in other classrooms.
Djordjevic said that the demands have been sent to the Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP), prosecutors and other state bodies. “We only want no silence and information about what is happening,” he said.
The 7th grade, 13 year old student, identified by the police by the initials KK walked into the school on May 3, shot a security guard in the lobby, walked into a classroom, killed 8 children and wounded several others along with a teacher. He was arrested in the school yard after calling the police.
