Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic lashed out at Belgrade political sciences students who said the regime tabloid Informer is their enemy.

Brnabic said that the students’ statement is scandalous and would “remain an embarrassment for the college, its professors, dean and the Belgrade University rector”.

The political sciences students issued a statement on their Instagram profile, condemning the attack on a fellow student in Novi Pazar by Informer owner and editor Dragan J Vucicevic. They said that he should be worried abiout what is coming.

“I want to offer you full support unequivocally,” Brnabic told an Informer reporter at a news conference in parliament.

“Freedom to edit your media is your guaranteed right and guaranteed liberty and no one has the right to threaten you,” she said adding that the authorities have shown what she called an unbelievable level of tolerance “but it will protect the constitution, laws and everyones right to have a free editorial policy”.

Brnabic accused United Group media outlets of spreading hatred. “They are N1, Nova S and Danas,” she said. “You see lies everyday meant to push for civil war,” she said.
