Serbian Parliament Speaker Vladimir Orlic said on Thursday that the timing of early elections depends on the response of the opposition.

He told the pro-government TV Prva that the opposition “obviously do not want elections because they know what elections bring”. He added that anyone who tries to get to power through street protests will fail.

“You heard the president and the prime minister and based on what they said we are heading towards early parliamentary elections which are a question of time. That depends on the people who allegedly want elections and then don’t. They are creating tension in society and we know that the only and true way to lower tension is to turn out for democratic elections,” he said.
