Payment via Viber app: NBS governor meets with tech company representatives

National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic met with representatives of the company Rakuten Viber to discuss possible avenues of cooperation in connecting the functionalities of the Viber application and the NBS IPS system, to the benefit of all citizens of the Republic of Serbia, said her office.

“By launching the NBS IPS system in 2018, the first in the region and among the first in the world, the NBS laid solid foundations for further development of payment services based on instant money transfers, positioning itself among the world leaders in terms of innovative payment services,” said the NBS in a press release.

It added that, today, more than four million users of mobile banking applications in Serbia can make instant payments in a simple, fast and secure way.

“The integration of the instant payments system with advanced communication technologies enhances the opportunities for growth and development of the functionalities our IPS system provides to merchants, consumers and businesses with a view to making further advances in a dynamic digital environment,” said the NBS.
