According to Serbia’s People’s Party, „on November 26, 2021, they signed a coalition agreement in Belgrade with the SSP, the Democratic Party and other political organizations, whose Article 2 reads:

Given that no agreement has been reached so far in talks with our coalition partners on a joint candidate for President of the Republic, we have agreed to commission two expert and independent public opinion polls to help us make the best choice together.“

They added that these researches are in progress, and their results should, „according to the previously established plan, be presented to them on Tuesday, January 25.“

„The People’s Party will continue to respect the coalition agreement signed on November 26, 2021, as well as all other agreements it reached with its partners. In this regard, we will not take any unilateral steps. Unity of the opposition is a key prerequisite for success in the coming elections. The joint candidate for President of the Republic should be the person who is determined by objective methods to have the greatest potential to oppose the majority’s candidate. Deciding on this important issue should not be guided by any personal, party or other special interests,“ the People’s Party said.
