Petition calls for end to student protest
A petition, signed by at least one alleged member of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), to end the student protests was launched on Wednesday, pro-regime media reported.
The petition was launched by “an informal group of students” who said their goal is to exercise their right to an education and unobstructed exams. The pro-regime media said that the petition demands an immediate reaction by the authorities.
“The blockades of the university schools prevent access to classes and resources crucial to our academic progress. We insist on the immediate removal of the blockades and return to normal studies,” the anonymous petition authors wrote.
They called for the January exam period to be organized “whose postponement extends our studies and jeopardizes our progress”.
Most of the signatories to the online petition are anonymous except for one SNS activist.
