Staff at the state Radio TV Vojvodina (RTV) launched a petition to dismiss the editor in chief and bring its reporting in line with the Serbian Journalists’ Code.

The petition said that the RTV should operate in line with the constitution and laws of Serbia and internal documents, the journalists’ code, programming principles and the obligations of a public broadcaster. “If these four demands are not met, we demand your resignations and will address all relevant regulatory bodies and institutions before opting for civil disobedience,” the petition authors said in a message to the heads of the RTV.

They also demanded the dismissal of the acting RTV Channel 1 editor in chief Nenad Cacic and his closest associates, disciplinary action against everyone responsible for false reporting as of November 1, 2024 when a collapsed concrete awning claimed the lives of 15 people at Novi Sad Railway Station.

The petition demands objective, timely and precise reporting on the student protests and immediate access to TV shows for the protesting students and people who support them.
