Petkovic following talks in Brussels: Bislimi refuses to discuss CSM statute
Head of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo Petar Petkovic said following a new round of Belgrade-Pristina dialogue held Tuesday in Brussels that the Serbian delegation insisted on the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM) in Kosovo, as it is crucial for the survival of the Serb people and for normalization of relations, and that Kosovo’s chief negotiator Besnik Bislimi refused to discuss the draft statute for the CSM.
“The acceptance of the draft statute of the CSM, drafted by the EU, is an important issue. Belgrade said it is ready to discuss this draft, but Bislimi refused. This shows that they will never form the Community of Serb Municipalities, they don’t want to. (Kosovo Prime Minister) Albin Kurti's policy is that of expelling the Serbs, especially from northern Kosovo and Metohija,” Petkovic said following the meeting. (Kosovo and Metohija is the official name for what the Serbian authorities consider to be the country’s southern province)
He said energy, freedom of movement and official visits were also discussed.
“We emphasized that it is necessary to unblock Serbian goods that are not being allowed into Kosovo and Metohija for over a year. We discussed the bridge over the Ibar River, we highlighted what is stipulated in the Bridge Agreement,” said Petkovic, stressing that Pristina needs to fulfill its obligation.
Regarding official visits, Serbia’s chief negotiator said Kosovo’s Bislimi showed no interest in this issue.
“As for offficial visits, Bislimi said he is not interested in the Agreement on Official Visits and does not accept it, despite the fact that we said that, as the chief negotiator, I have been denied entry to Kosovo and Metohija 14 times,” said Petkovic.
