Picula informs EP of Novi Sad tragedy
Rapporteur for Serbia Tonino Picula MEP informed the European Parliament of the tragedy at the Novi Sad Railway Station on Wednesday.
Speaking at the plenary session, Picula informed fellow MEPs that 14 people died when a canopy roof collapsed. “The railway station was under reconstruction over the past 3 years. Investigations are underway to find the causes of the collapse,” he said.
Picula added that public protests were organized to pay tribute to the victims of the tragedy and to demand justice and accountability. “We mourn the victims of the tragedy in Serbia and pay them homage,” he told the session.
