Commenting the minimum monthly wage in Serbia, which has been increased to 40,000 Dinar (1 Euro – 118 Dinar), Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said this money would last her “a few days, I suppose.”

Asked if she agrees that this amount of money is insufficient the cover the costs of living, she said “we will agree, without any doubt.”

“But we will also agree that, just 11 years ago, it was 150 Euro, and today it is getting close to 350 Euro,” Brnabic told Blic TV.

She added that unemployment in Serbia currently stands at 8.9 percent, as well as that the minimum wage has gone up, which are “topics that are important to me, topics that we fought for so much.”

“That is somehow the purpose of our political activity. This is the minimum wage increase in dinars from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, we have a continuous decline in the unemployment rate, we are at 8.9 percent. The average net salary in Serbia is also constantly increasing. We often talk about the minimum wage, while we don’t talk about the average net wage,” said Brnabic.
