Serbian Prime Minister Brnabic said Singapore will support Serbia's membership in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), a political, economic and cultural union of ten member states.

“In order for a county that is not a part of Southeast Asia to sign an agreement on cooperation and friendship with ASEAN all member countries need to consent to that, but Singapore is one of the most important. We will have their full support,” Brnabic told the Serbia state TV (RTS).

Brnabic is attending the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in Singapore, where she had meetings with the President of Singapore, Halimah Yakob, and acting Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

She said that, upon her return to Belgrade, she will once again launch the membership procedure, together with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, because this is “strategically important for Serbia.”
