PM Macut: Situation in Serbia currently completely stable

Macut told reporters that the meeting focused on the historically low water levels of the Danube, as well as the nation’s energy security.

“It is essential to maintain the stability of the energy system, which is currently fully secured, and to ensure that river navigation remains functional, meaning we maintain navigability down the Danube, while also maintaining the connection with the Danube-Tisa-Danube canal system,” Macut said.

He emphasized that authorities are closely monitoring the situation, adding that “everyone is involved, everyone has been assigned tasks, and they will come forward with concrete examples of who needs to do what.”

The prime minister repeated his call for people to conserve water and electricity, noting that river levels directly affect power generation at the Djerdap hydro plants.

He announced that the headquarters will continue to meet, stressing that every effort is being made to ensure that the population is not affected and does not suffer due to the current conditions.
