Prime Minister Ana Brnabic told an International Week of the Deaf event that a textbook in Serbian sign language had been introduced with another two being prepared.
She told the event at the Children’s Culture Center that 1st grade pupils would also get a math textbook and another for the World Around Us subject.
“We managed to provide a primer and reading books for the first and second grade for elementary schools in Serbian sign language, but there is a whole range of subjects for which we still do not have such textbooks,” a press release quoted Brnabic as saying.
She recalled that the SOS app for the deaf was recently presented, enabling free phone calls through an interpreter.
Brnabic said an information service in sign language will be introduced at the Prokop railway station from October 20.
