Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic said that education inspectors will take action in response to Monday’s teacher work stoppage, and thanked educators and students who continued regular classes.

“Schools are no place for politics,” he emphasized.

“I’m not threatening anyone, but I have warned everyone and asked them not to toy with the children and the education system. The education inspection will do its job, and you will see that very concretely in the coming days. I once again call on everyone, do not politicize schools, this is not a place for politics!” Vucevic told the pro-regime Happy TV on Monday morning, responding to a question on the Monday work stoppage by a portion of teachers across Serbia.

The prime minister dismissed the suspension of classes as “the worst part of the color revolution, which won’t succeed,” and described attempts to justify the stoppage as “pointless.”

Vucevic also criticized the opposition, accusing them of creating “an atmosphere like that of the Khmer Rouge” and behaving “like the inquisition” by discussing potential arrests and expulsions.
