Police arrest man for threatening President Vucic, his son, Belgrade official

Serbia's police and the state's secret service members arrested a man suspected of endangering the safety of Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic, his son and Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic, the Interior Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

The man, 42, identified by initials M.Z. called a local branch of Vucic's ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) in Belgrade last Tuesday and threatened the three, the Interior Ministry (MUP) statement said on Wednesday.

It did not specify what those threats made over the phone were.

The suspect is under the 48-hour police detention after which will face a respective prosecutor's office, MUP has said.
