Serbia has zero tolerance towards all types of crime, Internal Affairs Minister Bratislav Gasic told the Police Cooperation Convention for Southeast Europe (PCC SEE) Committee of Ministers meeting in Belgrade on Monday.
Gasic said that Serbian police is ready, trained and equipped to respond to all security challenges. “Our goal is clearly defined – every citizen has to have guaranteed security and their property must be protected from all forms of crime, including the migrants who have abused our hospitality,” he said.
Gasic said that the Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP) has been working to suppress irregular migrations as one of its strategic priorities in the north of the country and added that the authorities won’t allow Serbia to become a parking place for irregular migrants. He said the police has stepped up its operations in southern Serbia because most of the migrants come into Serbia from Bulgaria.
The minister said that combating organized crime is also a priority and added that the activities of a large number of criminal groups and individuals have been stopped.
