Police seize assault weapons in Pancevo

It said that the man was found in possession of 7 different types of rifle with ammunition and sidearms. Photographs showed 4 Zastava M70-style assault rifles, two sniper rifles, a pistol and a WW2 era Thompson sub-machine gun of a type used during the wars in the former Yugoslavia. TH police also seized several dozen ammo clips and ammunition for the weapons.

The 50 year old man was arrested in the Opovo municipality and is being charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Military-grade small arms were brought into Serbia from Bosnia and Croatia during the wars of the 1990s, some of them modern weapons and some outdated firearms from military reserve stockpiles.
