The new police union association filed a criminal complaint against Higher Public Prosecutor Nenad Stefanovic for “a series of criminal acts against his subordinates,” said N1's reporter.

The criminal complaint, filed on behalf of the association by its deputy head Zdravko Rajevic, lists two articles of the law that have been violated – obstruction of justice and prohibition of abuse and torture.

Rajovic said the association holds that justice was obstructed because deputy prosecutors were transferred to different positions and demoted by being removed from the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office Anti-Corruption Department, adding that there were also attempts to obstruct their independence.

Asked to explain the “elements of torture and abuse,” Rajovic said the police union believes they included bullying, scheduling of special meetings, and preventing the prosecutors from advancing in their positions.

Rajovic said the police union might also submit by the end of the week to the State Prosecutorial Council an initiative for Stefanovic’s dismissal.

One such initiative was filed Wednesday by a group of lawyers, formalizing the request made at the recent We Stand By Our Lauras protest for the dismissal of Republic Public Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac, Higher Public Prosecutor Nenad Stefanovic and his deputy Brankica Maric.
