Electricity and natural gas prices will not be raised this year, two senior Serbian state officials said this week.

Mining and Energy Minister Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic and state-owned Srbijagas natural gas supplier CEO Dusan Bajatovic said the prices of power and gas for households would not rise.

The Minister said on Wednesday that electricity prices have been very high on the international market over the past few months, adding that Serbia imported power. “That was expected to spill over onto household power bills but there can be no mention of electricity prices for households rising this year,” Djedovic Handanovic told pro-government Politika daily.

She said companies would see prices adjusted in a more moderate and flexible manner when the new method of calculating consumption is introduced on November 1.

Speaking a day earlier, Srbijagas CEO Bajatovic said that the state-owned supplier has no plans to raise prices. He told the state TV (RTS) that prices would remain about the same for companies.
