The Serbian Press Council Complaints Committee ruled that the Belgrade daily tabloid Informer violated the Serbian journalists’ Code of Ethics in two of its articles.

The Journalists’ Association of Serbia (UNS) said that the first text is an interview published on the portal Informer.rs under the headline: ‘Painful testimony of a father of a girl injured in a car accident! A drunk man disfigured my daughter and now walks around freely avoiding trial!’ The complaint against Informer was filed by the man whom the girl’s father blamed for the accident.

UNS said that the Complaints Committee ruled that, in this particular case, Informer violated three chapters of the Code of Conduct – Journalists’ Responsibilities, Authenticity of Reporting and Journalists’ Attention.

UNS said that lawyer Bozo Pelevic also filed a complaint against the online edition of Informer for its article containing offensive content regarding his TV appearance on Nova S where he expressed his opinion on the construction of the Krusevac – Cacak motorway.

The Complaints Committee said Informer violated two chapters of the Code of Conduct in this text, Journalists’ Responsibilities and Journalists’ Attention.
