An unknown perpetrator vandalized on Sunday, on Orthodox Christmas, the Pride Info Center offices in central Belgrade, said Belgrade Pride.

“This is a message to LGBT+ people in Serbia that there isn’t a day in the year when we are safe and that, even on holidays, we are targeted by those who hate us and want to deprive us of our rights, force us to hide and send us a message that we have no place here,” said the organization in a statement.

It noted that none of the perpetrators of the previous attacks on the Pride Info Center were ever prosecuted or convicted, despite the fact that the Pride Info Center had security camera footage of each of these attacks.

“We demand that the Prosecutor’s Office and police take this attack seriously, promptly find the perpetrator, and take adequate measures so as to prevent a repeat of these attacks. Government representatives need to meet all the Belgrade Pride demands as soon as possible as a way to send a message to the public that LGBT+ persons are not second-class citizens,” said Belgrade Pride.
