The Kosovo Judicial Council suspended the Serb President of the Basic Court in Mitrovica on Thursday, prompting Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to say that the Brussels Agreement no longer exists.

An N1 reporter in Pristina said that Judge Ljiljana Stevanovic was suspended for attending a meeting with the Serbian President. The Judicial Council decision came after reports a day earlier of the meeting with Vucic. Earlier, Kosovo Justice Minister Albulena Haxhiu told reporters that she had called the Council to sanction Judge Stevanovic who now faces a possible fine of 50 percent of her salary for the next year, transfer to another court or even dismissal from the bench.

Vucic blamed the suspension on Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti. “Serbian Judge Ljiljana Stevanovic was dismissed from Kosovo institutions at the order of Albin Kurti and all Serbian commander and police officers who attended the session of the Council for National Security are going to be dismissed in the morning,” he said, adding that Kurti has decided to attack the Kosovo Serbs and trample on the Brussels Agreement.

“The Brussels Agreement no longer exists. Albin Kurti wants to destroy the peace in Kosovo. He wants to attack the Serb people wherever they live, both in the north and south of Kosovo. Serbia wants to keep the peace and we are warning the Quint countries and entire international community because of all this. My final message is, whatever you do, Serbia will be with its people,” Vucic said in an Instagram post.
