The two most influential pro-regime media accused journalist Tamara Skrozza of calling for the death of President Aleksandar Vucic on Tuesday.

Skrozza gave an interview to the If I Were Someone show on N1, saying that things would have been different if “we woke up on October 6, 2000 (a day after the mass protests that toppled the Milosevic regime) in a different Serbia, without some people”.

Her words were construed to be a call for the killing of the current Serbian President who was part of the Milosevic regime, having served as the Minister of information who introduced a draconian law which allowed censorship. TV Pink and the Informer tabloid quoted her as saying that Vucic should have been killed in the year 2000.

FoNet news agency, where Skrozza is a senior editor, condemned what it said is an orchestrated campaign “fabricated in the authorities’ propaganda centers”. It warned that her words were taken out of context and recalled that she mentioned no names nor did she call for violence. “This media outlets, obviously directed from one center, are turning her into a target and endangering her life,” FoNet said.
