Pro-regime tabloid editor faces jail for insulting N1 reporter
The editor of pro-regime Informer tabloid, Dragan J. Vucicevic, is facing jail time again for failing to pay a court ordered fine for insulting N1 reporter Zaklina Tatalovic.
Vucicevic reported to prison last year to serve a six month sentence after he refused to pay a fine ordered by the court that found him guilty of making offensive remarks in Twitter posts against former Director of N1 TV Jugoslav Cosic. He was released after a night behind bars, while the tabloid Infomer said the fine paid by Vucicevic’s partner.
The judge in charge of the most recent case is alleged to have kept the case file hidden for more than a year, waiting for the statute of limitations to expire.
Vucicevic was convicted of prolonged insult committed to the detriment of N1 journalist Tatalovic.
The case file with the court ordered fine was handed over after an intervention by Tatalovic’s lawyer.
Vucicevic faces 180 days in jail if he fails to pay the 200,000 dinar fine (1 euro – 117 dinars).
