Danica Popovic, a professor at the Faculty of Economics, stated that nothing will ever be able to grow in the location where lithium will be mined and that the land will “not even be adequate for a cemetery”.

Popovic told the newspaper „Nova“ that two years ago the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, „passionately advocated for Rio Tinto“, as he does now, but that two and a half years ago he had to give up on the idea of the company mining lithium in Serbia.

„The profits that the president speaks about would go to those who breathe some distant and fresher air, and the waste from the mining will remain with us forever,“ she said.
