The Belgrade Higher Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into four major retail chains following allegations of anti-competitive practices.

The probe, initiated by the Serbian Commission for Protection of Competition, targets Delhaize (owner of Maxi stores), Mercator S, Univerexport, and DIS for potentially colluding to fix prices on certain products.

On October 10, the Commission for Protection of Competition launched proceedings against Delhaize Serbia, Mercator S, Univerexport, and DIS for violating competition in the market by entering into a restrictive agreement, specifically by agreeing on identical prices for certain products.

From late April 2024 to September 19, 2024, the Commission monitored price movements for 35 selected products in these four retail chains, and conclusions were then presented after analyzing the collected data.
