Prosecutors vote for Supreme Prosecutors’ Council

Serbian prosecutors voted at elections for the Supreme Prosecutors’ Council on Tuesday, casting ballots for new members of the 11 member body.

According to unofficial information N1 had access to, public prosecutors Predrag Milanovic and Jovana Komnenovic from the 2nd and 1st Belgrade Public Prosecutor’s offices. Boris Maljat and Nikola Uskokovic from Higher Public Prosecutions in Sabac and Belgrade were also elected. Radmila Jovanovic at the level of Appeals Prosecutions.

The only safe candidate was Supreme Public Prosecutor Jasmina Stankovic who was the only candidate at that level.

Prosecutors voted for Council members only at the same level as the office they hold.

The Supreme Prosecutors’ Council has 11 members – 5 are elected by prosecutors, 4 are named by parliament from the ranks of prominent lawyers and 2 seats on the Council are reserved for the country’s Supreme Prosecutor and the Justice Minister.
