Protest held in Belgrade over activist arrests

The demonstration was organized in front of the Palace of Justice, which houses courts and prosecutors’ offices, where students and citizens gathered alongside bikers carrying banners.

“We called people to show solidarity with our colleagues from Novi Sad. We are demanding the release of innocent people,” said Andjela, a student from the Belgrade Business School.

Vukasin Lalovic, a student at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, told N1 that the case of the arrested activists is appalling.

“Any one of us could have found ourselves in their shoes and in their place. These are political prisoners in Serbia, and it is extremely important that we are here today,” said Lalovic.

The crowd made noise, with the sound of drums disrupting the trials taking place inside the Palace of Justice.
