The Quint country ambassadors in Pristina did not attend a Kosovo Liberation Day ceremony hosted by President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti, the Klan Kosova portal said on Monday.

Pristina marks Liberation Day on the anniversary of the entry of NATO troops into Kosovo.

It said that only the ambassadors of Switzerland and Saudi Arabia were present. Kosovo Online said the government ignored a request for a comment about the Quint ambassadors (the USA, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom).

The ceremony was also snubbed by opposition party leaders, some of who were members of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

The authorities in Pristina fell out of favor with the Quint countries and their allies following unrest in the north of Kosovo which broke out over the government’s decision to bring in newly-elected ethnic Albanian mayors of majority-Serb municipalities under special police escort. The mayors were elected in a vote that the Kosovo Serbs boycotted.
