The Serbian authorities are buying back land which was sold to a company from the United Arab Emirates for more money than it was sold for, Belgrade weekly Radar said.

Farm land originally owned by the state PKB agriculture company was sold to Al Dahra for 4,700 Euro a hectare and is now being bought back for almost half a million. Radar said the government is also planning to pay high prices for land to build a highway to the city of Zrenjanin and has sold to Property Investment LLC from the UAE a hotel on Mt Kopaonik for less money than it paid for it. It also handed the Belgrade Waterfront (majority-owned by Abu Dhabi-based Eagle Hills Waterfront Investment LLC) a piece of land worth 16 million Euro.

“The state is buying the (PKB) land for a 100 times the price for the most important project by the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) authorities, the international specialized EXPO 2027 in (the Belgrade suburb) Surcin,” Radar said. The owners of record are Al Dahra and New International Investments 011 which is owned y Serbia Real Estate Holding and is based in the UAE at the same address as Al Dahra.

The weekly said that those are just some of the examples of how the SNS “in partnership with the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) has been wasting public money”.

Al Dahra will also sell land at market prices to the Serbian government for the Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad highway, the CEO of the state-owned Koridori Srbije roads company Aleksandar Antic said.
