In his address to the public on Monday, the third day of the barricades in north Kosovo, leader of the Belgrade-backed Serb List Goran Rakic said the Kosovo Serbs demand the release of those who have been arrested and the withdrawal of the units deployed in north Kosovo.

„We demand that our citizens who have been unjustly arrested be released and that (Kosovo Prime Minister) Albin Kurti withdraw all the units he has sent to the North. Therefore, the harassment of our children must stop, and the hunting down of the Serbs,” stressed Rakic, Kossev reported.

Rakic said the previous night was calm, primarily thanks to “the courageous people who persevered to survive in these parts, to preserve their homes and to preserve peace.”

He reiterated that peace is precisely the one thing that the Serbs want.

“So, we want just one thing. We want peace. We don’t want anything that belongs to anyone else, we just want to preserve what is ours, and our families,” said Rakic, adding that the barricades mounted in north Kosovo are a reaction “to Pristina’s unilateral actions.”
